2030Yea is a group of volunteers from Yea and surrounds dedicated to the goal of the township of Yea totally operating on renewable energy by 2030.
THE VISION
Ensure Yea has totally renewable energy sources by 2030 by:
. improving the thermal efficiency of residential and commercial buildings
. encouraging the purchase of solar photovoltaic (PV) cells – solar panels
. providing bulk buying opportunities for heat pumps and other energy
efficient devices.
. constructing a microgrid to distribute energy
. planning for a community-scale renewable energy sources
I have no doubt that we will be successful in harnessing the sun’s energy. If sunbeams were weapons of war, we would have had solar energy centuries ago~ George Porter, 1973.
The History of 2030Yea Incorporated
2019-2020 The Murrindindi Shire Council facilitated a Community Planning Process in Yea to enable the population to decide what projects it saw as important for Yea in the future. 100+ suggestions were whittled down to 11 projects, one of which was ‘Develop a microgrid for Yea’. A group of four volunteers took on the project and broadened the vision to ‘100% renewable energy for Yea by 2030’.
20 May 2020 The group decide to incorporate under the name 2030Yea. Committee positions were elected.
22 May 2020 2030Yea Incorporated registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria.
28 May 2020 Helen Haines, Federal member for Indi, officially launches 2030Yea at a Renewables Workshop conducted via Zoom.

2030Yea Survey
2030Yea is a group of volunteers from Yea and surrounds dedicated to the goal of the township of Yea totally operating on renewable energy by 2030. The vision of the group is to ensure Yea has totally renewable electricity sources by 2030. We want to know what you think Yea needs in this regard. We hope to use this information to help us to develop locally relevant plans and projects that will help us to achieve our goal.
Can you contribute to our plans by completing this survey. Survey results will form the basis of the next steps for our group. Results will be available on our website and emailed to our member list after the survey closes in early March. This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
